FAA Guest Artist Demonstration – Dave Manousos

May’s art demonstration will be presented by Dave Manousos, an abstract artist who, among other inspirations, is known for his “Big Eye Collection” of works.
Dave will lead off discussing the evolution and examples of his Big Eye characters. He will describe how he prepares his canvas, and then will demonstrate his warm-up process. Next, he’ll demonstrate his primary tools on a blank canvas, and show how he moves the paint around until “something” emerges.
Originally from Oakland, CA, Dave currently resides in the Northern California Gold Country. His artwork is regularly showcased throughout California, as well as the East Coast, Palma, Spain, and Zurich, Switzerland.
Painting in acrylics, Dave’s Big Eye Collection seamlessly combines his illustration and painting techniques, prominently featuring an oversized eye on one side of the face.
His artwork is characterized by vibrant colors, textured layers, and abstract shapes – all of which work together to depict nostalgic imagery of individuals from his own life.
