Exploring the Future of The Gallery at 48 Natoma

Volunteers Needed to Help Shape the Future of The Gallery at 48 Natoma

The Gallery at 48 Natoma in Folsom

The Folsom Arts Association is working with the City of Folsom Parks and Recreation Department to explore possible operational efficiencies to support the continued operation of The Gallery at 48 Natoma. With the Gallery Manager position currently unfunded, we are exploring a volunteer-supported model that will help maintain gallery exhibitions and events for the community.

Current Status

The Folsom Arts Association (FAA) remains in productive discussions with the City of Folsom regarding the future of The Gallery at 48 Natoma—the home of many of our membership art shows, monthly meetings, artist demonstrations, and our growing ceramics enrichment program.

Our goal is a gradual transition to FAA oversight of the Gallery beginning in mid-2027. While that may seem a long way off, there is important planning and preparation to do now—and we need your help!

This meeting is open to everyone—not just those who have previously expressed interest. Whether you’re ready to volunteer or simply want to learn more about the proposed transition and where your skills might fit, we encourage you to attend.

Please RSVP to shilton321@gmail.com so we can plan accordingly. A reminder email will also be sent to FAA members closer to the meeting date.

Our Transition Timeline

FAA is scheduled to begin managing Gallery operations in June 2027. To ensure a smooth transition, the FAA Board has already selected exhibitions for June through October 2027 and is developing plans for November and December.

This transition will also coincide with the 20th Anniversary of The Gallery at 48 Natoma, making it an exciting opportunity to build a strong volunteer-supported model that will continue providing quality exhibitions and events for our community.

Volunteer Opportunities

Operating the Gallery will require a dedicated team of volunteers. We are currently seeking help in the following areas:

Gallery Coordinator / Committee Lead

  • Coordinate a small team of volunteers supporting gallery exhibitions.
  • Serve as the primary Gallery Committee lead.

Technical Assistance Committee

  • Assist with artist submissions using gallery software (such as Jotform).
  • Help develop and support gallery sales systems, including QR code sales or coordinating with City systems.

Marketing & Promotion Committee

  • Prepare publicity and promotional materials for exhibitions and receptions.
  • Assist with website content, email announcements, and press releases.
  • Manage social media posts for FAA Staying Connected, FAA Clay Connections, the Folsom Arts Association and Folsom Arts Facebook pages, and other appropriate platforms.

Receptions Committee

  • Help prepare, serve, and clean up refreshments.
  • Assist with serving wine.
  • Arrange entertainment, flowers, guest book, and other reception details.

Exhibition Installation & Maintenance

  • Install artwork for exhibitions.
  • Assist with end-of-show maintenance, including patching holes and light painting.
  • Training will be provided.

Funding & Development

  • Research and write grant applications.
  • Seek sponsorships and other funding opportunities.

General Volunteer Support

  • Help wherever assistance is needed.

Whether you have professional expertise, organizational skills, creative talents, or simply a willingness to lend a hand, there is a place for you on the team.

We hope you’ll consider being part of this exciting new chapter for The Gallery at 48 Natoma. Together, we can build a sustainable, volunteer-driven gallery that continues to serve artists and the Folsom community for years to come.
