This Exhibition, organized by the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and the Brooklyn Museum is billed as the first major international loan exhibition devoted to Monet’s luminous paintings of Venice – the city also known as “La Serenissima” (the most serene/sublime).

Among the more than 100 artworks included in the Exhibition are 20 of the 37 paintings Monet created during his only visit to Venice, in 1908, as well as works by other famous masters who were enamored by the unique beauty of Venice – including Canaletto, Renois, Sargent, Turner, and Whistler – and coupled with other works by Monet that place his Venetian paintings in the context of his long and important Impressionist career.
