Fundamentals of Oil Painting Using a Simple Still-Life Setup
Join us for Polly LaPorte’s oil painting demonstration on Thursday, September 12.
Watch and learn as Polly demonstrates the fundamentals of oil painting using a simple still-life setup. She will guide you through her process, from initial sketch to final brushstrokes, sharing tips and techniques on:
- Color mixing and palette selection
- Composition
Using a limited palette and everyday objects, Polly will show you how to create a beautiful and captivating still-life painting that showcases the beauty of oil paints. “Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refresh your skills, this demo is perfect for anyone interested in exploring the world of oil painting.”
Polly is a full-time painter based in Sacramento, California. She holds a BFA from the University of California, Davis, where she had the privilege of studying with renowned artist Wayne Thiebaud. Additionally, she refined her skills at the Terry Miura Studio.
Polly’s vibrant and captivating paintings have garnered recognition, leading to representation by the esteemed Elliot Fouts Gallery in Sacramento. Her work also has been showcased in numerous exhibitions at other prestigious galleries, including the Studio Gallery (San Francisco), Gallery 625 (Woodland), Lynn House Gallery (Antioch), and KVIE Gallery (Sacramento).
With a fine art career spanning over ten years, Polly continues to push the boundaries of color and light.
