FAA Spring/Summer Members’ Show
May 10 to August 18, 2024
Bank of America Gallery
Harris Center at Folsom Lake College
Miniature Art
We are excited to announce a new, possibly ongoing, member-participation activity: Creating and Donating Mini-Art in support of Folsom Lake College's Free Little Art Gallery (FLAG) project.
A mini “gallery” is housed in the college library, as a space to display tiny art of all kinds – paintings, drawings, sculpture, collage, kinetic works, sewn or crocheted artifacts, tiny zines – whatever you can imagine and create. Only restriction – no larger than 3” x 3” x 3”.
Free mini art canvasses are available at the FAA monthly demos to members who wish to participate. Bring your finished artwork to our monthly demo - which we'll collect and deliver to the college. You can also drop off your artwork at the College Library, the Equity Center, or the Innovation Center (10 College Parkway in Folsom). Works will be displayed for a week(ish), and then made available for members of the college community to take home.
We will continue this activity for at least the next three months, at which time we will assess whether there is sufficient interest to keep it going.
Bus Trip
No July Bus Trip – Having surveyed our members, the FAA Board has concluded that there wasn’t sufficient interest in a trip to the Nevada Museum of Art to see the Maynard Dixon exhibit. We will continue to monitor upcoming exhibits in regional museums – the Bay Area seems to garner the most interest – and will strive to get a Bus Trip back onto our agenda later this year.

2025 Membership Dues
In 2023, FAA amended its membership year, so that memberships now run from January through December each year. New members and members can register on-line. We have also implemented an additional on-line payment option for members who do not use PayPal; and payment by mailed check, or cash in person at a membership meeting are also accepted. Memberships not renewed by the end of February will lapse.
Membership benefits include a list of activities all year long! The FAA Board recently enacted an increase of $5 to our annual dues. For 2025, memberships are $30 for individuals / $45 for families – still a great bargain for all.
66th Annual Kiwanis Club Art Fiesta
A Call for Artists has been issued for the 66th Annual Kiwanis Club Art Fiesta, to be held at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center in Sacramento on June 1 and 2. This is a juried fine art show with high-quality standards that draws great crowds (more than 1,700 visitors last year from all around the Sacramento area). The venue is a secured indoor location, with great amenities and parking near Sacramento State College.
More information about the Fiesta is available online. Click for a copy of the application. There is space for just 77 artists, with booth assignments on a first-come basis – so don’t delay if you are interested.
This information was brought to FAA’s attention by FAA member Chris Hedges. Members participating for the first time are encouraged to note (on their application) that Chris Hedges is the artist who referred them.
