Members Classes & Events 2024
A Call for Artists has been issued for the 66th Annual Kiwanis Club Art Fiesta, to be held at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center in Sacramento on June 1 and 2. This is a juried fine art show with high-quality standards that draws great crowds (more than 1,700 visitors last year from all around the Sacramento area). The venue is a secured indoor location, with great amenities and parking near Sacramento State College.
More information about the Fiesta is available online. Click for a copy of the application. There is space for just 77 artists, with booth assignments on a first-come basis – so don’t delay if you are interested.
This information was brought to FAA’s attention by FAA member Chris Hedges. Members participating for the first time are encouraged to note (on their application) that Chris Hedges is the artist who referred them.
May 4th & 5th – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Join EDHAA for their 16th Annual self-guided Art Studio Tour through artists’ studios in El Dorado Hills, Folsom, Shingle Springs, and Rescue. Visit local artists at 15 locations, including Gallery 48 Natoma (diverse artwork in all disciplines, including Oil, Acrylic, Pastel, Watercolor, Sculpture, Ceramic, Wood, Jewelry, and Mixed Media.)
El Dorado Hill Assistance League Garden Tour
The El Dorado Hills Assistance League is inviting selected local artists to paint on-site en plein air this Spring, during their annual El Dorado Hills Garden Tour. This event is a major fundraiser for programs the League sponsors for local children and elderly members of the community.
There are five garden locations, drawing around 800 visitors each year. Invited artists may also bring a few artworks available for sale. The event is scheduled for June 1 and 2.
Interested artists should contact JoElla Allen at: firstname.lastname@example.org, or may call her at 925-783-6283.
2024 Membership Dues
Last year, FAA amended its membership year, so that memberships now run from January through December each year. New members and members can register on-line. We have also implemented an additional on-line payment option for members who do not use PayPal; and payment by mailed check, or cash in person at a membership meeting are also accepted. Memberships not renewed by the end of February will lapse.
Membership benefits include a list of activities all year long! The FAA Board recently enacted an increase of $5 to our annual dues. For 2024, memberships are $30 for individuals / $45 for families – still a great bargain for all.
Are you up for the challenge?
The subject of this quarter’s Art Challenge is Wayne Thiebaud, one of the Sacramento area’s most renowned artists. Members are challenged to either replicate* a Thiebaud work of art or to emulate his style with your own composition.
All artwork images are due February 6. We will share the artwork at the February 8 artist demonstration.
