January 2019 – Linda Health Clark
Join us on Tuesday, January 15, for Linda Heath Clark’s “Scratchboard” demo.
Linda enjoys depicting the non-traditional scratchboard subjects of abstracts and landscapes. Her distinctive use of acrylic on scratchboard allows for additional areas of experimentation. The final effect is achieved by alternating layers of acrylic, scratching through to the white clay surface below, and reapplying thin washes of acrylic. Scratching creates highlights and adds detail; washes of acrylic add additional contour and shadow.
Linda’s Bachelor’s Degree in Art with a minor in Biology led to working sixteen years as a scientific illustrator. Her scientific illustrations and wildlife art have been exhibited in museums, including the Oakland Museum of California and the Smithsonian Institution. Linda has led workshops and demonstrated scratchboard techniques.
Linda’s scratchboard piece “Cactus Bloom” was printed in AcrylicWorks 2: Radical Breakthroughs, published by North Light Books. Linda has been awarded Master Scratchboard Artist (MSA) status by the International Society of Scratchboard Artists.
