After working as the director of an international gallery on the
Plaza in Santa Fe, New Mexico, then owner of her own gallery- Three
Feathers International Gallery of Fine Arts – Diane Wittman
Punteri returned after twenty years to painting, the love of her
life. Punteri and her family moved to Tuscany, Italy, in
1994, remaining until 2003. She showed her work and entered
many competitions throughout Italy and Europe, always mindful of
her Native American roots in New Mexico. Her “process” for
her works comes by the many en plein air pieces she does, along
with the technique, she acquired by watching and painting with
some of the Southern California Eucalyptus School- members now
all deceased, she then takes them back to the studio and edits,
with the ever contemplation that the end result comes from her
inner self, never really knowing how they will turn out. She
calls this process “reflections of our inner emotions and
intelligence” quote Diane. She is ever mindful of
the color and form with the use of her natural sensibilities. There
is a depth of color and true earth-bound simplicity in Punteri’s
paintings. Mindful of the “wholeness” of
the finished piece and the solicitation of awe for the wonder of
the many landscapes she depicts and the vastness of depth she loves
to portray.
Punteri now lives and works in northern California (Nevada City)
with her Italian husband and their three sons. Punteri,
grew up in the foothills (Eldorado County).
