ARTIST STATEMENT:
I am a local artist. I live in Folsom near old town. My favorite
medium is pastel; however, I also enjoy oil and watercolor. I started
to concentrate on art techniques in the mid-90’s. I had an
opportunity to study under local artist, Gray Pruner, while attending
art classes at American River Junior College. I have studied under
Susan Sarback at her School of Light and Color at Fair Oaks in
the pastel and oil mediums; also there, I took pastel classes from
Irene Lester, a local Fair Oaks artist. I have taken watercolor
classes taught by Jeannie Vodden, a local Jackson artist, and Howard
Stover, teacher and curator of the 404 Gallery.
I like to pay attention to shapes and their changes throughout
the work on a picture. I enjoy capturing light and color. My subjects
are very versatile: boats, flowers, people, landscapes, and still
life studies. I like plein air painting. Sometimes, I go out of
the box --example, I had a silk scarf printed up with the watercolor
work, Bamboo In Rocks
